Financial Secretary Report

Hello Members of UAW Local 1050. I’m going to try to be brief in my report. I am currently working on the strike duty list in preparation for any potential work stoppage. You will be required to picket four (4) hours, one day per week to receive ANY strike benefits (pay & insurance coverage). PLEASE be on time & arrive a few minutes early for your scheduled day & time. You must sign in with your assigned strike captain. I plan to keep MARRIED couples assigned together unless you tell me otherwise. The times are: 7a, 11a, 3p, 7p, 11p, 3a 7-days a week 24/7.

Just a heads up, members with least seniority will more than likely be scheduled on second or third shift. Currently, day shift has twice as many people than second shift.

Please make sure our local has your up-to-date name & current address. Just because the company has it doesn’t mean we have it.

The International Union, UAW/ Secretary-Treasurer requires detailed & personal information to receive benefits if we end up going on strike. This will be discussed at our Strike Authorization Vote on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at UAW Local 1005.

Dues & fees MUST be paid prior to the expiration of the current contract on February 28, 2024.

At this meeting, members will receive new UAW ID Membership Cards, if they’re in by that date.

If you’re a new member of this local & you came from another union, please contact your former local ASAP to get an Honorable Withdrawal Card.  Get it to me within 30 days of employment at Howmet so that I can refund your UAW initiation fee.

We will also need wood for our burn barrels. Please contact me on this issue. Take care.  UAW 1050 Family.

Solidarity Forever,

KaRon Waites, Jr

UAW Northeast Ohio CAP, Trustee

UAW Local 1050 Update

Brothers and Sisters,

We are nearing contract negotiations time. As of this update, we have not been given an exact start date. As soon as we find out, we will update the membership. During negotiations, we will be updating the membership as best as we can. We recently did a brief podcast to put on the website ( so that you can all get familiar using this format to get update information. Please take a few minutes to go on and listen, as this is the fastest way we can update the entire membership.

We will be having an election to fill the role of Guide on the Executive Board. Postings and mailings to your home should be coming very soon.

Our holiday news letters should also be coming soon.

Postings for our January Membership/Strike Authorization meeting will be up in the next week or so. There is some brief information on that in the podcast as well.

In Solidarity
