Operation: Sweet Appreciation                                         

 On March 13th, 2009, the UAW Local 1050 Veteran's committee presented The Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio with a check for $1,250. This was in response to a Girl Scout fundraiser called "Operation Sweet Appreciation",  in which the Girl Scouts used the donations to ship their trademark cookies to our troops stationed in Iraq.  Local 1050 took up collections from its members and was recognized as the largest contributor to this effort to support our troops, and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. (The GSNEO presented an award to Local 1050 for collecting the most donations in the 18 counties it represents, at our September membership meeting.)
